Commander's Corner:

School is back in session and many of our programs begin.  Our scholarship programs - Voice of Democracy (for High School), Patriot's Pen (Middle School) and Junior ROTC (High School), are starting.  Volunteers to assist our Chairman Charley Kemp are needed.  A few hours of your time would greatly enhance our community in getting students to participate and, maybe, encourage one to do so well that he/she might go and win at National and obtain the $30,000 scholarship.  Call me or e-mail me if you can assist.
Vets in the Classroom is another program which volunteers are needed.  It is where Vets visit the classrooms of our young students and talk to them about a wide range of subjects from our country's beginning to experiences we all had.  It is to show that we are all human and have our country at heart.  The younger students will amaze you with their knowledge and interest.  Again, your help would be appreciated and I truly feel that the experience would be rewarding.
Our fall Raffle has began.  A $750.00 Gift Certificate could get the winner at least $825.00 in merchandise or up to $1,000.00 in merchandise.  Proceeds from this raffle goes to our general fund which aids the Scholarship Programs and our Police, Fire, EMT and Teacher of the Year programs as well.  It also helps us with our budget throughout the entire year.
Our Adopted Unit, the 944th Aeromedical Staging Unit, at Luke Air Force Base is this coming Saturday.  Still need volunteers.  Be at the south gate of Luke AFB NLT 1130 hours.
